Living Green Committee

Living Green is focused on promoting sustainable living within Columbia University and the Morningside Heights community. Each semester, we organize a number of events according to suggestions from our committee members. In the fall, we hosted Columbia's first sustainable fashion show (EcoChic) and in the spring, we host our two flagship events: the Youth Climate Summit and Give & Go Green (GGG).

We benefit from working closely with Columbia Housing and partnering with organizations and speakers from the New York City area. Please check out our initiatives to get a more complete picture of our past and current projects. If you have an idea and the drive to see it through, our committee will enable you to make it happen.

The Youth Climate Summit is a conference for high school students to learn from experts in the climate sphere on how to take action against climate change in their position as youth leaders. Students will attend workshops hosted by Columbia University professors and various NYC environmental organizations.

Our Past Speakers: Columbia Global Energy & Policy, Sustainable Columbia, Infinite Goods, Columbia Women in Energy, Bureau of Energy Resources, and Green Spark Film

At the end of the conference, students create Climate Action Plans using the tools that they have acquired at the summit, which can be implemented in the students’ schools and communities. Starting 2025, we will provide prize money to the winning Climate Action Plan!
